About

Hello! My name is Lindsey, the owner/operator of Wayfarer's Wicks.

I grew up in the small town of Hammonton, NJ, the Blueberry Capital of the World! Our farms are arguably the largest producers of blueberries in the northeast. Being situated in the Pine Barrens, we have the perfect sandy soil to produce these berries. Try some Hammonton grown blueberries for yourself... they definitely taste the best!

Wayfarer's Wicks started simply as a hobby, to break up the tension and stress from graduate school. Also, living on a student budget and preparing for the holidays is never an easy task, so I looked around for budget friendly DIY gifts and came across candles. I fell in love with the process and of course the outcome!

However, they did NOT turn out well! I thought it would be as simple as heating wax, adding fragrance, and pouring into wicked containers. Turns out, candle making is a science and an art that takes a lot of patience and a lot of testing (and unsurprisingly.. extra funds... haha!). I was determined to figure out the science behind candle making, especially as a scientist myself.

A little background about me: I completed my undergraduate studies in east central Florida in Meteorology with the hopes to become an NWS operational meteorologist. Life had other plans for me, though! After interning in southeastern VA, I decided to pursue my graduate studies in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science at UMD with a particular focus on air quality. As usual, life had some twists and turns and ultimately, I graduated with my M.S. and became an Aviation Meteorologist.

Some other fun facts about me is that I enjoy cooking (especially Italian cooking, it brings me closer to my roots), I oddly adore the music from Assassin's Creed Odyssey, I am terrified of flying, and I love collecting coasters from breweries! Anyways... As I began to figure out the science behind candle making, especially with the support of my friends and family, I decided to take the big leap to open my own businesses.

I wanted my brand to encapsulate who I am, my favorite people, places, and memories, and of course, my hometown. I see my craft as a way for people to get to know me. As you may have noticed, every scent blend I put into my candles has a back story! Considering my interest in air quality (and my asthma!), I wanted to create clean, eco-friendly products. All of my ingredients are phthalate free, paraben free, dye free, and do not require any Prop 65 warning. The fragrance oils that go into my products go through rigorous testing to make sure they are carcinogen free and clean burning.

Thank you for supporting Wayfarer's Wicks and I hope you enjoy my products as much as I do!
